Stuffe & Nonsense
Plush Dolls and Anthropomorphic Creations
The most distinctive products from Stuffe & Nonsense are our anthropomorphic character figures. These plush dolls combine animal features with human posture and clothing. Stuffe & Nonsense dolls are all individually constructed from original designs by Warren and Candy. The animal characters are costumed to represent Egyptian gods or characters from myth and literature. If we aren't busy with somebody else's fantasy we use one of Candy's -- usually based on a pun.
Stuffe & Nonsense Handmade Stuffed Animals
Besides the anthropomorphic dolls, we also make stuffed animals which are more specifically animal-shaped, as well as more conventional teddy bears. Our stuffed animals do include fantastic creatures such as a griffon or a hippogriff. And some of the animals wear bits of clothing or carry tools. That anthropomorphism stuff is hard to shake!
Hansa Stuffed Animals
Hansa collectible stuffed animals are close-to-nature reproductions of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians. They have been available in Europe for about 30 years, but are only recently getting much distribution in the United States. Hansa use high-quality synthetic plush, often custom-produced for their specific requirements of color, pattern and texture. The Hansa designers use complex cutting patterns with as many different plush variations as needed to get the right appearance for their animals.
Hansa animals are hand crafted in the Philippines by some very skilled artisans. Many of the animals get air-brushed accents to highlight body or facial details. The resulting animals are very life-like. Despite their high quality, Hansa pieces are very reasonably priced.
Egyptian Stuffe
Stuffe & Nonsense carry a selection of decorative figurines, boxes and collectibles made in the style of artifacts from ancient Egypt. Some of the items are replicas of specific antiquities; others are modern designs using ancient themes. We have lots of figurines of various gods and goddesses, copies of votive figures, and some nicely decorated boxes.
Decorative Plaques, Sculptures and Figurines
Figurines, plaques and decorative castings in English historical themes from Whitewinds by master sculptor David Lawrence.
Jewelry
Candy maintains a fine jewelry collection built of items selected to interest animal lovers, Egypt buffs, and those who like pretty rocks. She is a geologist, not a gemologist, so our selections of stones includes lots of interesting rocks like sphene or tanzanite.
If possible, visit us at a show or convention. See our Event Calendar page for information. There you can see, pet and/or cuddle some of the plush critters, get a close look at the jewelry and figurines, and possibly discuss subjects of great social and political import.
There's a collection of Stuffe & Nonsense papers on various subjects at the Sense & Nonsense link.
