Erwin Fuchs the "desert fox" in an Afrika Korps uniform circa 1942, with all-ranks cap and blouse. He's an 18 inch tall fennec fox doll of synthetic plush with acrylic stuffing. The pink ribbon around his hat cockade identifies him as a member of a panzer grenadier unit. Erwin is basically a one-of-a-kind, but we can make a similar character on request. Details of uniform and equipment will likely vary.

Fennec foxes are among the cutest animals going. They're so cuddly and fluffy. Warren happened to see a bird land in the fennec enclosure at the San Antonio zoo, and those cuddly little fennecs quickly divvied it into about 5 servings in just a few seconds.

A couple of years ago we tried making realistic fennecs. I cut out pieces for three or four of them and bagged them ready to sew. Before we could sew them, however, our two kittens found the bags and chaos ensued. It's a good thing we decided the pattern was basically unusable, because Sunspot and Nebel shredded the bags and jumbled all the pieces together. So when I wanted fennecs again, I chose morphs. We spent quite awhile discussing other possible costumes for a "desert fox" but nothing else had the identification value of the Afrika Korps. I spent a couple of hours sewing the hat alone. The uniform insignia are photo-reduced onto iron-on transfer paper and appliqued to the costume.

Stuffe & Nonsense Stuffemal plush dolls and animal character figures are original soft sculpture designs, individually hand crafted in California by the Stuffe Staff. Due to medical issues and other priorities we no longer make plush toys and have left the web images live just for reference. If you already have one of our creations, we hope you treasure it. Sorry, but we do not know of anyone doing similar work.

Construction and material details vary depending on our design goals for the character involved and the materials on hand. The plush figures are constructed of mohair, wool, alpaca or high-quality synthetic faux fur. Clothing and costume are also hand-made by Stuffe & Nonsense; jewelry and props are from diverse sources. Stuffe & Nonsense Stuffemals often use glass eyes or small parts and are not suitable for young children.
