Set (or Seth) Egyptian God Plush Doll

18 inch tall jointed doll of the Egyption god Set as a red whatever-he-is. The long, slightly down-turned snout and erect square ears are distinct features of Set, but there is debate about what animal he represents -- if any. This Set also has a forked tail, as shown in some of the wall illustrations of the god. Made of mohair or of fine German synthetic plush with leather pads and ear liners. Details of fabric and jewely vary. Wears Egyptian jewelry and carries an ankh.

Set is an interesting god. He is the god of chaos and destruction as elemental forces, not an embodiment of Evil. Set personifies the Red Land, the desert, the harsh foe always encroaching on the fertile Black Land, the narrow strip watered by the yearly flooding of the Nile. In the Osirian pantheon he was the slayer and dismemberer of Osiris, necessary in enabling Osiris to rise again as the new crops in the fields. The Contentions of Horus and Set is a collection of stories describing the epic conflict between Set and his nephew Horus, the avenging son of Osiris. In the 19th dynasty the name of Seti was given to some pharaohs. Traditionally, anyone with red hair might be named after Set.

Stuffe & Nonsense Stuffemal plush dolls and animal character figures are original soft sculpture designs, individually hand crafted in California by the Stuffe Staff. While we do have some stuffemals on hand, we usually make them on order, so delivery time for your plush doll will be two to eight weeks. Construction and material details vary depending on our design goals for the character involved and the materials on hand. The plush figures are constructed of mohair, wool, alpaca or high-quality synthetic faux fur. Clothing and costume are also hand-made by Stuffe & Nonsense; jewelry and props are from diverse sources. Stuffe & Nonsense Stuffemals often use glass eyes or small parts and are not suitable for young children.
