The henu pose represents a gesture of jubilation or adoration. This statuette seems to be modelled after a wall painting in the tomb of Ramesses I, which shows Ramesses celebrating with ancestral spirits represented as jackal-headed deities. Richard Wilkinson explains the henu pose thoroughly, and even puts the Ramesses tomb painting on the cover of Reading Egyptian Art: A Hieroglyphic Guide to Ancient Egyptian Painting and Sculpture.
