Bastet Cat Figurine, Egyptian Goddess in Gold-Plated Pewter

Statuette of the Egyptian goddess Bastet as a cat. Gold-plated pewter figurine is 2.5 inches tall.

This Bastet figurine duplicates the jewelry and pose of the renowned Gayer-Anderson cat. The original is a hollow bronze statue from the Late Period that may have been a coffin for a mummified cat. It wears a wadjet (Eye of Horus) amulet on a chain, over a beaded collar carrying a winged scarab. Like many Bastet cat sculpture it wears earrings. On the original the wadjet was of silver and the earrings of gold. The replica figurine omits the gold nose ring on the Gayer-Anderson cat.

Stuffe & Nonsense Egyptian figurines and collectibles are modern manufactured decorative objects, made in the style of ancient Egyptian artifacts.
