This Bastet figurine duplicates the jewelry and pose of the renowned Gayer-Anderson cat. The original is a hollow bronze statue from the Late Period that may have been a coffin for a mummified cat. It wears a wadjet (Eye of Horus) amulet on a chain, over a beaded collar carrying a winged scarab. Like many Bastet cat sculptures it wears earrings. On the original the wadjet was of silver and the earrings of gold. The replica figurine omits the gold nose ring on the Gayer-Anderson cat.
