Musician Girls Jewelry Box

Lidded box of cold-cast resin 4 1/2 inches long carries a relief of female musicians. The image of the musicians is taken from a banquet scene in wall paintings from the tomb of Nakht, 18th Dynasty (Theban Necropolis TT52). Looks like they knew how to party in Thebes!

We know of ancient Egyptians mainly from their tombs, because that is the material that has survived the millenia. Some observers conclude the Egyptians cared more for death than for life, or even that they worshipped death. Tomb decorations such as Nakht's banquet scene show that the Egyptians cared exuberantly about life. Their religion included an eternity after death in which they could expect to continue enjoying the same entertainment they did when alive.

Stuffe & Nonsense Egyptian figurines and collectibles are modern manufactured decorative objects, made in the style of ancient Egyptian artifacts.
