Ibis represented wisdom because they arrived in Egypt on migration in time for the annual innundation. People had to have astronomers and priests and go to great trouble to know when the flood was coming, so the ibis must have been very clever to figure it out without all that help. We also have figures of Djehuti as an ibis-headed man, or as a colorful sacred ibis.
