Thoth or Djehuti Egyptian God

Statue shows the Egyptian god Thoth as an ibis-headed man holding papyrus and a pen. Thoth is the Greek name for Djehuti, the god of wisdom and learning who invented writing. This painted resin casting is 9 inches tall.

The ibis was a symbol of wisdom and knowledge because their migration brought them to Egypt just before the annual innundation. People had to have astronomers and priests and go to great trouble to know when the flood was coming, so the ibis must have been very clever to figure it out without all that help. Thoth could be represented as an ibis or as a man with the head of an ibis. Thoth could also be represented as a baboon, but we think the ibis looks more elegant.

Stuffe & Nonsense Egyptian figurines and collectibles are modern manufactured decorative objects, made in the style of ancient Egyptian artifacts.
