9 inches tall, 9 inches long, 15 inch tail with a 28 inch tail showing this lemur's trademark black-and-white bands. We also have a life-size ring-tailed lemur plush in seated position and a life-size ring-tailed lemur plush in standing position.

Ring-tailed lemurs are found wild only in forests on the island of Madagascar, where they are threatened due to habitat loss. Ring-tailed lemurs breed well in captivity and there is a substantial zoo population. The ring-tailed is probably the most immediately recognizable lemur, both because of their distinctive coloration and because of their large captive population.

Ring-tailed lemurs are both terrestrial and arboreal, foraging on the ground as well as in trees. Lemur troops of up to 25 individuals claim substantial territories which can overlap with other troops. Troop members use a wide variety of vocalizations as they move about; their flashy tails probably aid in visual recognition. Males also use their tails in an unusual display called a "stink fight". They rub scent from glands on their wrists onto their tails, then shake and quiver the tail over their heads at the opponent.

Hansa produce an assortment of quality plush animal figures designed to capture each animal's beauty and character. Hansa use high-quality synthetic plush, often custom produced for their specific requirements of color, pattern and texture. The Hansa designers use complex cutting patterns with as many different plush variations as needed to get the right appearance for their animals. The fabrics are hand-cut to match each animal's design. Eyes, noses and paws are individually sewn to give each animal its realistic and individual appearance. Many of the animals get air-brushed accents to highlight body or facial details. Then the animals are hand-stuffed creating the unique poses and looks that are distinctively Hansa.

Hansa also make a series of life-size large animal plush which include a structural metal frame that is light-weight but capable of being "ridden" by children and even adults up to 250 pounds in weight. Stuffe & Nonsense cannot stock the large animals, but you can check their full collection at the Hansa Toys USA web site. If you see something interesting there, contact us and we can get it for you.
