This really cute little devil is 7 inches tall and 12 inches long, about half life-size. We also have a full-sized plush Tasmanian devil. Wikipedia notes that Tasmanian Devils are characterized by "black fur, offensive odor when stressed, extremely loud and disturbing screech, and viciousness when feeding." Hansa's plush Devil looks a lot like a real Devil, but fortunately it only shares "black fur" with that list of characteristics.

Tasmanian devils are stocky, sturdy and energetic predators who will take almost any prey up to the size of a small wallaby. But they are opportunistic and more often eat carrion than live prey. Devils are pretty much always on the lookout for their next mouthful, as they eat about 15% of their body weight per day. They have the strongest bite for body size of any mammal, and can digest nearly anything. Devils eat not only the flesh and organs of their prey, but also the hide and bones. Feeding is a group affair as up to a dozen individuals will gather at a carcass, and they debate and squabble noisily over precedence. Devils must be aggressive about food from birth as a litter is about 20 young, but the female only has 4 nipples.

As their name implies, Tasmanian devils are now found only on the island of Tasmania. They used to live also on the Australian mainland, but were extinct there even before Europeans arrived.

Hansa produce an assortment of quality plush animal figures designed to capture each animal's beauty and character. Hansa use high-quality synthetic plush, often custom produced for their specific requirements of color, pattern and texture. The Hansa designers use complex cutting patterns with as many different plush variations as needed to get the right appearance for their animals. The fabrics are hand-cut to match each animal's design. Eyes, noses and paws are individually sewn to give each animal its realistic and individual appearance. Many of the animals get air-brushed accents to highlight body or facial details. Then the animals are hand-stuffed creating the unique poses and looks that are distinctively Hansa.

Hansa also make a series of life-size large animal plush which include a structural metal frame that is light-weight but capable of being "ridden" by children and even adults up to 250 pounds in weight. Stuffe & Nonsense cannot stock the large animals, but you can check their full collection at the Hansa Toys USA web site. If you see something interesting there, contact us and we can get it for you.
