Serket Egyptian Goddess in Protective Stance

Statuette shows the Egyptian goddess Serket (or Selket). Painted cold-cast resin figurine is 9 inches tall. Copied after the Serket figure protecting the canopic jars of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, along with Isis, Nephthys and Neith. Serket was associated with Qebehsenuef, and protected the jar containing the intestines.

Serket (srq in hieroglyphs) is shown as a woman with a scorpion headdress. She could also be shown as a scorpion with a woman's head, though this form was rare. Goddess of scorpions and venomous creatures, Serket was invoked for protection from these dangerous animals. Serket protected Ra's solar barque from the Apep serpent as it journeyed through the underworld.

Stuffe & Nonsense Egyptian figurines and collectibles are modern manufactured decorative objects, made in the style of ancient Egyptian artifacts.
