Tutankhamun Sarcophagus with Nested Mummiform Coffin

Small model of an Egyptian "mummy case" or sarcophagus, copied from Pharaoh Tutankhamun's coffins. The case opens and has a smaller mummiform coffin inside. Painted cold-cast resin figurine is 4 inches long. We also have a model Tutankhamun sarcophagus with a mummy inside, and a larger Tutankhamun sarcophagus.

These nested mummy cases are like the innermost two coffins that held the mummy of Pharaoh Tutankhamun. King Tut's mummy was placed inside three nested mummy cases, each more richly decorated than the one before. The mummy cases were inside a quartzite sarcophagus, which was inside four nested shrines. The large outermost shrine nearly filled the burial chamber in KV62. It took Howard Carter's team years to disassemble and extract all the nested boxes. The work involved in assembling them in the small burial chamber initially was remarkable.

Stuffe & Nonsense Egyptian figurines and collectibles are modern manufactured decorative objects, made in the style of ancient Egyptian artifacts.
