- Babe runs her own private investigation business with her brother Max as gumshoe. Babe's investigative expertise and police contacts were critical while leading the group through the confusion of the rats and the dogcatcher. Babe uses her considerable charms in interviews, most notably with Dr. Pettigrew and with the Mt. Shasta postal clerk.
Babe and Max have withdrawn from active investigation after the group started dealing with William Donovan, though they have taken specific investigation tasks for standard rates.

Ben was a member of the Starkweather-Moore Antarctic Expedition.
After the Phibes Medical Center raid, Ben received a poison pen (actually poison paper) letter from Alicia Phibes that left his hands numb for a day, but he did not change jobs or move as Irene did. After his apartment was firebombed he did move, but he still works at the ____ hospital emergency room.
- Charles Myers (Ruth ) Pinkerton Detective
- Charles' Pinkerton assignment on security at the Plaza Hotel led the investigators to resolution of Cheng Huang the Rat-Thing and the San Francisco rat plague of 1936. The hotels have cut back on security since the burglary rate dropped and Charles is now on call (that is: unemployed).
Charles now has a BAR and a couple of hand grenades taken from the cache in Dagnabbit Mine.

- Reliable furnishings and equipment mover, with his own truck(s) available.

- Negro lab assistant, handyman and factotum for Tom Carrington.
Member of the Starkweather-Moore Antarctic Expedition.
- Irene Hudson (Debra ) Secretary/receptionist and former chemistry student.
- Irene was the receptionist and clerk at the San Francisco SPCA office and joined the investigators discovering the felonious dogcatcher Vincent Onofrio and the vivisectionists he supplied. Irene learned how to make Dr. Phibes Elixir.

- Margie King dba Mme. Atalya (Candy ) Mystic/parapsychologist and shop clerk
- Margie works as a psychic and palm-reader under the name "Madame Atalya". She was also a sales clerk at Gumps until erratic attendance (and a visit from some government man asking questions) led to a parting of the ways. Margie has some occult skills of divination; her greatest skill is in reading tea leaves.

- Selected by Donovan to move Prof. Zarkov and his lab into the house in San Rafael. Joined investigators when called to move Zarkov again from San Rafael to San Francisco.
- Max Trubble (ret'd) (Alan) Private Investigator
- Max works for his sister Babe in their private investigation agency. Max put the critical disabling shot into Abel Jones in his machine-gun nest at Dagnabbit Mine when he and Margie rescued the group.
