Do the dog and the cats get along? Not perfectly. Han tends to bother the cats. He chases them: they make noise and run away. What's not to like about that? Sometimes instead of running away they make noise and claw his face. Han seems to consider that a fine part of the game, too. Nebel likes the dog; Eclipse hates the dog; Sunspot's reactions vary, but he does not much like the dog; Smoke generally tries to ignore the dog. They all share the same bed with us, and it has taken a bit of effort to enforce the bedroom as a no-play/no-fight zone.

But Nebel and Han are, uh, possibly altogether too friendly. Han and Nebel at play can present a disturbing sight. Generally, Nebel will jump out of a hiding place, swat the dog, and run. They then chase each other about until Nebel loses interest. But sometimes there's a wrestling match instead of a chase

Strangely enough, Nebel likes this kind of play. He'll saunter out while the dog is play-posturing and flop down right in front of the canine. When Han moves in and nips at the cat's belly, Nebel starts batting at the dog's face. Sorry about the blurry pictures, but a flash would have ended their game.

Despite the alarming moves, Han has never hurt any of the cats. After a good game with Nebel Han will often have bloody scratches on his face or ears. Nebel just has mussed wet fur.

When Nebel is on a chair, he's about the same height as Han's head. When things are quiet, Han will walk over, butt Nebel with his head, and then ...

Ewwww! He's got his whole head in that ear!

When one ear is done, Han turns around and gets the other one cleaned. Sometimes Han grooms Nebel. Nebel makes a great disgusted expression as he gets slimed by the dog, but I have not managed to get a picture of that -- it doesn't take much dog grooming before the cat either leaves or bites the dog.
